How to Update Manually Netgear Router Firmware

Step 1: Download the Netgear Firmware

The first and foremost step is to download the latest firmware for your Netgear router model. The downloading process must be safe so that the latest version is downloaded.

Here is what to do:

• Visit the official website of the Netgear Company. 

• Enter the specific model number of your Netgear router in the search option. 

• When you see your router’s model number, click on it and download the firmware file.

• Once downloaded, save it on your desktop.

Step 2: Manually Update the Netgear Firmware

• First of all, connect the Netgear wireless router to your computer via an Ethernet cable.

• On your computer system, open a web browser and type www.routerlogin.net the default web address of the Netgear device in the address bar of the browser.

• When a login screen displays, enter the Netgear default username and password in their respective fields. Click ‘Login’.

• On the basic web-management page, select the “Advanced” tab.

• Next, click on the ‘Administration’ option.

• After that, click on the ‘Firmware Update’ button. 

• Now, click the ‘Browse’ button to choose the downloaded firmware file. 

• Click on the ‘Upload’ button to start the Netgear firmware update process.
